Stage 4 Uterine Cancer

Stage 4 uterine cancer, also known as metastatic uterine cancer, is a serious condition where the cancer has spread beyond the uterus to other parts of the body.

This can include organs like the lungs, liver, bones, and lymph nodes.

Uterine cancer is a general term for cancer that starts in the uterus. There are two main types:

Uterine-Cancer-Hirschfeld-Oncology

Endometrial Cancer

  • Most common type: Starts in the endometrium, the lining of the uterus.
  • Symptoms: Abnormal vaginal bleeding, especially after menopause.
  • Risk factors: Obesity, late menopause, certain hormone therapies, and a family history of uterine or colon cancer.
  • Treatment: Often involves surgery to remove the uterus (hysterectomy), along with other treatments like radiation or chemotherapy depending on the stage.

Uterine Sarcoma

  • Rare type: Starts in the muscular wall of the uterus.
  • Symptoms: Similar to endometrial cancer, but can also include pelvic pain and abdominal swelling.
  • Treatment: Typically involves surgery, followed by radiation or chemotherapy.

Symptoms of Uterine Cancer

  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abdominal swelling
  • Trouble urinating

Important Note: While these are common symptoms, early detection is key to successful treatment.
